Crib bedding. Check.

The crib bedding arrived! It is really adorable. The colors are just the perfect shade of baby. :) This isn’t the greatest copy and paste job so I will definitely say it is cuter in person. Blue and Green Club Stripe Serena and Lily Fabric by the Yard

Now on to paint…Blue or green? My whole house has a variation of beige on the walls so I decided color is a must. I might have the opportunity to mark a few lingering projects off the list this weekend. If that’s the case, I might actually paint a few samples on the wall. Might in my world means “most likely not going to happen anytime soon”…but just sounds better.

This whole nursery thing might actually happen after all. I was so inspired by the delivery of the bedding that I ordered the Jenny Lind crib too (see earlier post with ugly monkey bedding in tow)! I do plan on switching out Emerson’s iron crib and the Jenny Lind crib upon arrival, but that’s just details. (And also on Phillip’s to-do list sponsored by Meagan.) The estimated arrival date on that is April 1st through June 3rd. Wow…Thanks for narrowing that down, Amazon. I will be anxiously waiting by the door for the next 3 months. *sarcasm*

The crib bedding is arriving…TODAY!

I went to a wedding in Destin this weekend.  And as I had decided to remove the laptop IV from my arm for about 5 days, I knew that nothing would be getting done ordered.  So I just did it…I just put the crib bedding in my virtual shopping cart and bought it.  It really is easier this go round…I fretted over the fabric texture and coordination with Emerson.  Maybe its because I know what to expect and how things are supposed to fit and work…Or maybe its because it really isn’t as important as everything else going on around me right now (i.e. Emerson).

I will post a picture of the bedding if I decide I really like it in person.  If not, better left unsaid…And move on.

I think the bedding arrival will help me actually do something about the nursery…  It’s still a playroom and nothing has been done.  I have a box of various clothing and other things that I have been collecting for a few weeks now…Sitting in my den…Even Emerson doesn’t even bother with anything in the box because its old news.  I am thinking that this weekend is the time for closet organization and toy removal.  Let’s see if that actually happens…

Maybe I should rename this blog to “The Procrastination Diaries”?  I have seriously been trying to think of a better title, but I can’t really decide on one that sums all my ramblings up into one phrase.  Suggestions?

“The Countdown” apparently started before I was even counting.

In the last post, I said that we have 16 weeks.  Well, after much more reading on various baby websites, I have decided to drop that number to 12 weeks.  I need to be ready in 12 weeks (full-term status).  Oh no.  That is NOT enough time.  I have done nothing.  NOTHING.

So, I have pretty much decided that although I loved Emerson’s custom made bedding, we will be going with the pre-made stuff this go round.  Unfortunately, cheaper is not really the deciding factor (because it just isn’t any cheaper).  It’s just that I haven’t really fallen in love with fabrics and don’t have as much time to devote to the search.  I guess because I have figured out what I like and don’t like over the past 2 years, it just isn’t that hard to say an affirmative yes or no to almost everything.  I did find a simple pre-made set I liked recently so I plan to just not over think the whole thing and just order it.  Now, to convince myself, I am not OCD and can do something so stress free.  I am not OCD.  I am not OCD.  I am not OCD…

The only hard thing is that we definitely need to buy a second crib.  Annoying.  I went for the heirloom iron (and did I say expensive?) crib with Emerson.  Of course, assuming we wouldn’t be in this situation…  At 21 months, Emerson is definitely not ready for the “big girl bed” just yet.  And if I have to buy a second crib anyway then I guess I will just let her stay in a baby bed as long as she pleases.  So as I sit here in love with the first crib we bought, it’s hard to focus on a second and definitely less expensive crib.  Maybe just a simple white jenny lind crib???  I’m not into the convertible cribs so that’s out.  Who knows…  Something like this maybe…minus the monkey bedding and wheels?  And should I just take the time to put Emerson in it now knowing she won’t be using it for long…and give the “heirloom” crib to the “Bobby”?  So many questions!

Baby #2

I thought this deserved more than just a mention in the previous post.  So here goes…We are expecting a new baby boy in June!  Yea!  No name just yet.  Emerson has affectionately named him “Bobby”.  I think it came by coaxing her to say “Baby Brother”.  But now we just refer to him as “Bobby” and I guess its sticking.  (However cute that is…I can say with confidence that he will not be named “Bobby”.)  Now here are my real thoughts…

O.M.G.

I have some serious plans for our house.  Here is a brief house plan explanation.  Think of our house as a square box.  There is a bedroom located on each corner which means that the living space is all in the middle (disregard the bonus room upstairs…also known as the “man cave and guitar museum”).  The baby rooms will be all on one side sharing a jack-and-jill bath.  This means that our current playroom will be the new baby’s room.  Therefore, after many long discussions, we have decided to change our guest room into a playroom.  It just doesn’t make sense to keep a room solely dedicated to using approximately 6 weekends a year.  At first, I didn’t think that would fly…But after many sleepless nights (*sarcasm*), I decided it is OUR house.  And we need to use it in ways that would best work for US.  That’s not saying we won’t still have out of town guests.  But we just won’t have the traditional guest room fluffed (yes, I said fluffed) to the liking of others.  So after all that blah blah blah’ing about the dynamics of our house, I am trying to say that the guest room needs to be cleaned out, furniture removed, painted, and turned into the playroom…then the current playroom needs to be cleaned out, painted, and turned into a new nursery…then various other small house projects need to be completed.  It’s a lot of work.  And as I just figured out, we have 16 weeks to do it all.  O.M.G.

But beyond house changes, we really know what to expect this go round.  I guess that is why it has been a non-issue so far.  I just wish I had time to clean or organize like I did before Emerson.  But as soon as I pat myself on the back for putting things in their proper bins or cabinets, Emerson is “yea’ing” and clapping at herself for pulling it all out and handing it to me [my eyes are rolling even as I type this].

I decided to take a break from nursery shopping tonight to write this blog entry (i.e. checking out tons of websites, storing ideas in my brain, and then most likely do nothing with any of them).  I guess its normal to do this, but I keep peeking at the baby girl stuff.  It’s just so dang cute!  The baby boy stuff I have found just isn’t as cute…and beyond that, there just isn’t as much of it as there is for little girl’s.  So sad!  Truthfully, I had secretly hoped for a girl.  Beyond having the most adorable nursery, Emerson had/has the most adorable wardrobe.  And as she grows out of things, I want to turn back time so she can wear it just one more time.  I bought a few things along the way that I didn’t really love.  It was okay and it fulfilled the purpose of why we bought it (cotton shirts or play clothes).  So as I packed things away and started getting things ready to consign, I really really really hoped for that second girl.  But alas, it’s a boy.  On the up-side, I am enjoying buying little boy things.  And from this point on, I decided that Emerson and “Bobby” will always be dressed in things that are cute, no matter the occasion.  I almost said “clean” too, but that’s just impossible.  Of course, it’s clean when put on…After that, well, it’s not going to stay that way for long.  So in the meantime, I will keep looking for that sweet baby boy nursery inspiration I need.

Hello, Blog. My name is Meagan.

I really miss blogging. I mean I seriously miss it. I think about it on a regular basis and find myself pre-writing posts in my head. But yet time passes and nothing goes from thought to blog.

So here goes the explanation on where I went…1. Well, life just got busy. Having a full-time job that I do part-time at work and part-time at home, a very active and heavy (33 pounds as of the last time we checked) toddler, and trying to keep all the things together in between have just worn me out. 2. I received some negative feedback from family about posting my life details on the internet (no matter how mundane and the fact that no one reads it anyway). 3. In the meantime of not being fully supported on my blog, I was informed that someone was reading my facebook posts and reporting on them to someone I work with. Apparently, a joke I made about getting the mail (a duty usually highly guarded by my father) was exaggerated into making fun of my father and working at the family business. It’s so nice when you can trust the people you go to church with (*sarcasm*). Hence, it put a damper on my thoughts of social media for a while. 4. And lastly, I have written numerous posts which have never been posted. I reread them prior to posting and think, “Why would anyone be interested in this???” So I guess I find myself rather boring sometimes and assume others will too.

So, as I sit here and wonder how I am going to get my house in order…and, oh yeah, furnish and decorate a second nursery (By the way, #2 is on the way and it’s a boy.), I will go ahead and add ‘be a better blogger' to the list to the list.

I’m baaccckkkk…

Well, maybe.  I had to get back online to check out Rachel’s belly pic.  So I may just get back to my blogging.  I really did like doing it, but then I felt like I spent too much time (that I didn’t have) writing for a blog that I am not really sure anyone read anyway.  So let’s just say…Check back soon!  :)

The must-have-mom-blog.

That is exactly how my friend, Michelle, described it the must read blog.  So I will, in turn, share it with you.  I have only read some of the more recent posts, but Amanda obviously has a very adorable and entertaining life.  Check it out!
