My kitchen renovation is complete! It's only been a year and a half since we started... But I can actually say that it is done! We started this process as soon as we moved into our house in September 2007. But starting from scratch and doing it completely ourselves with no contractor was a challenge. We definitely learned a lot about the process and what we should and should not have done. Our major delay was the electrical work. We probably had it redone a minimum of 3 times. Basically, what we thought would work didn't so we would change it. And then find out there was something still not working. So we changed it again. Each time, we had to have the wall repaired. So once, we used the plugs and the switches and determined that we liked where they were, the backsplash was ordered and scheduled. Last week, the tile guy was supposed to be start the two day process on Tuesday. But on Tuesday morning, I received a phone call that the tile guy had broken his hand and was having a cast put on it as we speak So the story goes... With the building industry as it is right now, I was able to reschedule someone new within a week. We now have a beautiful backsplash and a fabulous fireplace surround! But the best thing of all is that our kitchen is COMPLETE (minus the electrical covers)!
Our kitchen backsplash... Behind the sink... Backsplash behind the drink bar area... Our new fireplace surround (so much better than the fake hunter green marbled tile)...
