Diaper Tragedies

Yesterday evening...While in the midst of changing one of Emerson's diapers, she decided that she wasn't quite finished. So we cleaned her up and pulled off the newly wet changing pad cover, I sprayed some spot remover on everything and left it to throw in later (as the washer and dryer were already running). This morning, I threw it all in the washer and came back an hour or so later. I opened the washer, grabbed a handful, threw the handful in the dryer, and noticed that I had these squishy gel beads absolutely everywhere... These are the immediate thoughts that went through my head...1) One of the peices of clothing, the changing pad, or the burp cloths had somehow disintegrated and turned into clear goo, 2) The laundry detergent had solidified, 3) I had found what happens when you combine baby pee, Spray N Wash, and Dreft detergent. Since the handful of items that I had just thrown in the dryer also had the strange gel beads all over it, I pulled those items out and proceeded to use my dust buster to clean out my dryer...As I was looking over the items in the dryer, I found what used to be an itsy bitsy newborn diaper...Now it was a huge wet diaper that looked more like a Depends...Yuck! I can't say too much about it except it was now clean... This is apparently what is on the inside of a diaper...These gel beads are what soaks up all of the delightful wetness that a baby has to offer. So now that I understand the inner workings of a diaper, I realize that I don't need to know everything...Some things are best left to the imagination. I threw out the diaper and rewashed everything in the washer with a extra rinse cycle (just hoping that it gets rid of all that mess). And it does! Nothing was ruined and all the gel beads disintegrated and washed away! Thank goodness!!! Lesson learned...I will check all laundry before it is thrown in the washing machine...
