We just returned from Emerson's 2 month appointment with Dr. Weinacker today! Phillip was able to make this appointment thank goodness. I found out that it was extremely hard to go by ourselves last month. Between the car seat, diaper bag, purse, and everything else it is always hard...But then you have to strip her down to get weighed at the weigh station, then carry her to the room, then do whatever while you wait (change a diaper, feed her, etc.), and then carry everything back to the front where you have all the paperwork and such to do. When we left, Phillip said that he didn't realize what a hassle it all was and would make sure to be available in the future...YEA! Beyond her normal check-up, Emerson had her first round of vaccines - 1 oral and 2 shots. Phillip was adament that we discuss the theory of autism and vaccines with Dr. Weinacker first. She was extremely informative and truly believes that it has nothing to do with autism, but did leave us the option of deciding what to do in the end. We went forward with the vaccines.
So Emerson is now off the charts when it comes to height...She is in the 95th percentile for height, and the chart actually stopped at 24 inches for 2 months old. She's on the heavy side for her age, but because of her height she doesn't look chunky. And her head is now just average!
Height: 24 1/2 inches ... 95th Percentile
Weight: 11 lbs. 11 oz. ... 75th Percentile
Head: 39 1/2 cm. ... 50th Percentile
As you may remember, we received a letter from the State of Alabama Health Department right after our last appointment. We did not have to reperform the test as they take a follow-up test at the 1 month appointment to send off anyway, but it just proves how the State shouldn't really get involved in all these things just because. Well, about a week ago, we received another notice from the State of Alabama letting us know that the newborn hearing test that is done in the hospital was never received. So, I just didn't worry about it because Emerson can obviously hear (as noted by the reaction to our barking and sometimes insane dogs) and I figured I could just let them know at her appointment today. So, I gave the nurse the letter from the State at our appointment...And again, the State was sent this information by the hospital over 2 months ago but was never received (sure...). I am losing all confidence in the State of Alabama's health department...(AND THIS IS WHY WE SHOULD ALL WANT UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE...HAHA...WHAT A JOKE!) Children's Medical just resent the test results and we should be good to go...maybe. Let's see what else we received from the State of Alabama Health Department.
