We returned from the beach yesterday...It was great! The condo is awesome. It really works well for our family. Its 3 bedrooms and 4 full baths. Its pretty roomy and although we are all used to our own personal space, I never feel like its overly crowded and we are all in each other's way. Phillip and I took the bedroom with the 2 queen beds and turned the second bed into a changing table basically with all of her things laid out and ready to use.
This was Emerson's first trip to the beach. Actually, it was Emerson's first trip anywhere. Beyond going to a restaurant, Target, Babies R Us, or my parents' house, she really hasn't been anywhere and definitely not overnight yet. It was a little rough getting there because the amount of stuff we had to bring, but once we were there and the car was unloaded, it was a breeze. Its a good thing that we really aren't beach people (I know...Strange...We have a family beach condo and we don't really love the beach). My mother is particularly not fond of water, sand, or sun so she usually stays inside and enjoys the view from far away. But it works out great because there was always someone around to help with Emerson. Phillip and I were able to get out and go to the pool which we would not have been able to do alone.
I would have never thought going to the beach with less than a month old baby would help me catch up on sleep but it did. I was completely spoiled because at 5am, Emerson went to the living room and hung out with my mother until I was up at around 9 - 10am. That was 4 - 5 hours of uninterupted sleep! I was completely able to handle the mid-night feedings and fusses that way. And I guess it started rubbing off on Emerson too because this morning (Tuesday), Emerson slept until 5am! We were up for about an hour and a half and then back to sleep until 9am! Maybe going to the beach with a very small infant isn't so bad after all!
I have noticed that with all the craziness at home, I sometimes forget to eat much. So I will look up at the clock and realize that 4 hours just flew by and Phillip will be on his way home within the hour. Oh well...I don't require that much food to exist (although you would never realize how little I eat by the way I look...annoying!). But at the beach, my mother had prepared a lot of ready to eat food plus someone was always making something or offering so I ate a lot...argghhh! I am still wearing some of my maternity clothes so its not as easy to tell how much I have eaten recently...Actually, the more I eat, the better they fit...I wish this was the goal of all clothes.
We are going back in August for a full week!
I will post some pictures soon (as soon as I download them from my camera)!
