We are currently at the beach. It's been pretty great! On Friday night, Emerson slept until 3am and then woke up like normal. On Saturday night, Emerson woke up at 3am again...But she wasn't crying or even fussy so I put her pacifier back in her mouth, wrapped her up in her blanket, and laid her on the bed with us. She immediately went back to sleep with no bottle...!?!?!!! So at 6am, she was hungry! But nonetheless, it was 6am and not 3am! So Sunday night, she woke up at 3am but not fussy...with a little help from me to put the pacifier back in her mouth and get the blanket back on, Emerson went back to sleep until 6am! This happened again on Monday night...and again on Tuesday...and again on Wednesday...AND THEN AGAIN THURSDAY NIGHT! We might be on to something. Obviously, she doesn't need a bottle in the middle of the night, but she just wakes up for some reason. I am hoping this continues and we can just train her to go back to sleep on her own. It might help when I am not sleeping in the same room (thanks pack n' play...) because I hear her moving around and want to do something about it. So, we will see how this goes until we go home, and hopefully, transition this phenomenon to her own crib in our own house!
Emerson had her first dip in the pool on Sunday. She had a brand new bathing suit, sunglasses, sun hat, and bath robe to wear. We waited until the end of the day so the sun wouldn't be so blinding. I thought the pool would be pretty warm because of the hot sun all day, but it was actually rather cold. But Emerson took it like a champ and just didn't know what to think. That pool trip lasted a whole 5 minutes. On Monday, we took her to the indoor pool thinking it would be a lot warmer. Nope! I think it may have been colder than outside... Again, Emerson showed no fear. I was even able to lay her back in the water supporting her head with my hand. She didn't even blink. After a while and her little hands turning purple, we got out, dried off, and then headed upstairs for a warm bath. I am extremely happy that she likes the water so far...We spent a fortune on our own pool so it will be nice to enjoy it in the years to come.
So beyond going to the pool and sleeping through the night, we had just a bit of retail therapy on Wednesday. Emerson and I went shopping at the outlet mall in Foley. It was a trip to find some things for myself with my new sexy post baby body (haha...I am laughing so hard at that statement). Anyway, I didn't find anything, but the trip wasn't a total loss, as it gave me the motivation to jumpstart my diet and exercise program asap! I did find a few cute things for Emerson though. It's really hard not to find cute baby girl clothes just about anywhere. I have received one snide comment along the way that Emerson would be the "best dressed baby in Mobile." I don't really think that is the case...but I know that it was meant as some sort of insult...Not really sure why that is insulting...
