Our Pet Owl

So this is a random post...(All I write about is Emerson so I thought I would talk about something else...). I get up every morning somewhere between 2 and 4 usually (I won't mention why exactly since I said that it wasn't about you know who...). And in my sleepy daze, I get to see our owl. We have this huge brown owl that has taken up residence in the woods behind our house. Phillip and I saw it almost a year ago perched on a lone branch in one of the giant pine trees behind our fence. Now its back...We heard it long before we saw it again. So now that I get to look at it all the time, I think its a Barred Owl. It's huge and brown. I researched the types of owls that are common to Alabama, found all their pictures online, and then decided it has to be a Barred Owl because of its size and appearance. Anyway, it really likes our yard. We can see it sitting in the tree, or on our fence at dusk, or even on the ground by our pool. Last week, it was sitting on our fence and I walked out there to see how close I could get...I was about 10 feet from the owl and then the thoughts of the owl pecking out my eyeballs started so I didn't go any closer. Anyway, I think it likes us more than our neighbors so I will take that as a compliment and assume that it has no plans of pecking out my eyeballs anytime soon.
